The Harmony Debates
HD Sophie Howard photo1
Sophie Howard teaches sculpture at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol, UK, where she also runs ‘HOURS’, a small gallery. She makes permanent sculpture in ceramics, resin and bronze, as well as working in natural materials that disintegrate over time. Her pieces translate visions and thoughts into solid forms, expressing something about life beyond the purely visible, and she works on collections of pieces exploring themes such as the nude, animals and dance. Born in West Dorset in 1950s, she grew up in Yorkshire and trained at Winchester Art School before moving to London and returning to live in the South West of England in the 1980s.
