Mark Goyder spent over 15 years working in manufacturing industry. He then joined the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. While he was there, he organised a range of dialogues with business leaders, and this led to the development of the influential RSA Tomorrow’s Company Inquiry – a business led inquiry into the role of business in a changing world. Following the success of this project in 1996 he set up Tomorrow’s Company as an independent research organisation to inspire and enable business to be a force for good in society. The organisation laid the foundations for the restatement of directors’ duties and has initiated worldwide changes in the approach to the stewardship responsibilities of investors. After over twenty years of challenging and working with business leaders, investors and policymakers, he stepped down as CEO in 2017.
